The collection consists of three subscription lists for orders of [reprints of] Congressional speeches to be printed at the Congressional Globe Office: undated (circa 1850), the first order is for 1,500 copies of the speech delivered by Alexander Stephens on the President's message; second order is for 5,000 copies of the speech of Hon. Noah Davis of the state of New York, on Georgia Bill, delivered in the House of Representatives, March 7, 1870, some of the subscribers' names including Noah Davis and W. Townsend; and the third order is for 1,800 copies of the speech of Hon. John S. Bigby, of the state of Georgia, on Congressional reconstruction – Georgia politics, delivered in the House of Representatives, February 24, 1872, subscribers' names including John S. Bigby and Charles M. Turner.

The collection consists of papers of Benjamin Conley from 1842-1884. The collection consists mainly of correspondence to Conley relating to his business practice, his presidency of the Macon and Augusta Railroad, his participation in the 1867 Constitutional Convention, as Georgia Governor, and as Postmaster of Atlanta. Many letters deal with Georgia reconstruction and politics, Conley's involvement in the Republican Party, and political matters relating to Augusta (Ga.). Correspondents include Foster Blodgett, John S. Bigby, Thomas J. Spear, and business partner B.W. Force.
